Komatsu Ltd., the Japan-based manufacturing and mining equipment company, is well known for its quality excavation machinery. Komastu's Mini Diggers are the perfect tool for those jobs too large for a shovel and too small for a large, heavy-duty excavator. Komatsu's line of compact utility equipment includes compact excavators, also known as mini-diggers, backhoe loaders, and skid steer loaders.
Komatsu Mini Diggers (Mini Excavators)
Komatsu mini diggers can be used both for digging and for loading. Because of their tight swing radius, mini diggers are perfect for working in small, confined areas. Diesel-fueled motors that in turn give power to the hydraulic systems that run the excavation and loading equipment run Komatsu’s diggers. The smallest of the Komatsu mini excavators is the 8.5 hp PC09-1. Weighing in at about one metric ton, with a bucket capacity of over 0.02 m3 and digging depth of 1.5 m, the PC09-1 is perfect for the smallest workspaces and tasks. These small excavators are often used for landscaping work. Used PC09-1s have been listed on the European market for less than 11,000 Euros. On the larger end of the mini digger scale, with a weight of about five metric tons, is the PC50MR-2. With 39 hp and a digging depth of 3.8 m, this Komatsu offers the benefits of a mini digger with power approaching that of its larger cousins. In between the PC09-1 and the PC50MR-2, Komatsu offers eight intermediate sized models of mini excavator.
Komatsu mini diggers can also be outfitted with a number of auxiliary tools to expand their usefulness. These attachments include but are not limited to breakers, shears, magnets, digging grabs, augers, grapples and fork carriages.
